Copycat DQ Ice Cream Cake

This fool proof Copycat DQ ice cream cake recipe is so easy and affordable, your kiddos will love this for their next birthday (and you’ll save BIG bucks!!) Now, I know it doesn’t LOOK like a DQ cake – but I promise it tastes just as good and it much easier (and less time!!) to make!

What you’ll need:

You’ll only need a few ingredients and can make this cake for far less than buying it at the restaurant! All you’ll need is: chocolate ice cream, vanilla ice cream, Oreos, chocolate fudge, and to make the homemade whip cream, heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla.

How to assemble your cake:

Before you get started, you’ll want to leave your ice cream out on the counter to melt a good amount before putting it into your dish – I like using this glass one so you can see each of the layers of the cake! Once your ice cream is melted (not all the way!!! just soft) pour it into the baking dish and use a spatula to spread it evenly. Once the ice cream is spread evenly, place it back in the freezer for an hour!

Heat your fudge up in the microwave until it is melty and pourable (1-2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds). Once it is pourable, pull out your vanilla ice cream dish from the freezer and pour the fudge over top! Quickly get it back into the freezer to set up because the fudge will melt the ice cream! Now is when you will take out your chocolate ice ream to start melting on the counter!

Once your fudge is in the freezer, place all of the Oreos into a plastic baggie and break them all into small crunchy pieces. I used the bottom of a canister to bang on the bag to break them. lol

After you break all of the Oreos into small pieces, place them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and place in the oven at 350 fro about 8-10 minutes! The point of this is to get those little bites super crunchy and “dry” them out a bit!

Once you take the Oreos out of the oven, pour them evenly on top of the fudge! Place your dish back into the freezer until your chocolate ice cream is good and melty.

Once your chocolate ice cream is soft serve consistency, pour evenly over the top of the Oreos! Place back in the freezer again!

Now time for the homemade whipped cream (don’t skip this step, it is SO worth it – it’s beyond delicious!!!) Mix together 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla in a bowl. mix with a hand mixer on Medium speed until stiff peaks form – it should look like the picture above!

Spread the whipped cream all over the top layer of ice cream and decorate how ever you’d like!! My girlies love extra sprinkles. Place back in the freezer to freeze overnight.
Pull out of the freezer and let thaw for 15-20 minutes before serving!

ENJOY!!!!!
